Why the zebra?
The zebra is a symbol for rare disease and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). There’s a saying taught in medicine: “When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.” It’s a reminder to look for the most common answer first, but sometimes the rare thing really is the answer. The zebra represents being seen and believed, and reminds us that rare conditions do exist.
